The Challenge
As a Grade II Art Deco Listed building rebuilt in 1926, The Globe Theatre required comprehensive structural remediation to prepare it for modern safety standards. The primary challenge lay in safely executing licensed asbestos removal while completely protecting the fragile, historically significant fabric of the building. Any work had to adhere to strict heritage conservation guidelines and satisfy all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulatory conditions.

Utilising our status as an HSE-approved Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractor (LARC) holding a full 3-year licence, MDS deployed a specialist remediation team. The team implemented meticulous containment boundaries and protective measures to isolate the asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) without disturbing the surrounding 1920s architecture. Every step of the removal process was planned in close collaboration with the delivery partners to ensure zero structural compromise.
